Aoki Takamasa (JP)
Aoki Takamasa’s country of origin is apparent by his name alone. He was born in Osaka, Japan, which doesn’t mean that he is not well known elsewhere. World outside of the Japanese island knows him especially for his music and photography. His first musical enterprise, the “Silicom” album was released at the beginning of 2001 and since then, he has managed to record a solid stack of albums. He could be easily described as a matador of the electronic music scene due to his ability to broaden his musical expression and the fact that he is not afraid to do even the strictest changes in his creative approach. First deviation from the deep dyed creative approach happened at his début record, where he began to create new sounds in a music software.
Later on, he began to utilize his own vocal records, a principle which crystalized on his second album on which he collaborated with Tujiko Noriko. He is still trying to be as open as possible and to have a broad variety of musical expression techniques with the use of various music software and hardware. The final product is being dominated by rhythm and a “groove” – elements specific for Aoki Takamasa. His compositions are attractive creations and his live performances are highly rated for their creativity, quality and intensity. Maybe due to his heterogeneity, Aoki Takamasa had collaborated with a number of labels such as Progressive Form, Commons, Raster-Noton or Stroboscopic Artefacts.
