J Dilla has had strong influence on the present instrumental hip-hop wave. One of those who have been impressed by his sound is, with no hesitation, a Britsh producent Kidkanevil. It was not like that from the beginning of his musical attempts, he has dug the way to pure instrumental hip-hop only recently. With the third album Basho Basho, which was released just one month ago, the native of Leeds, finally got to the Premier League, where he can join people like Flying Lotus or Onra. And his best buddies in the national team would be probably Blue Daisy and Lone. So what does it mean? Plenty of varied sparkling sounds, authentic samples, no exxagerative complicacy, easy sound.

If you compare 2007 debut Problems & Solutions to the new release, you can see the difference immediately. The sound quality of recorded tracks is much more higher and the method of handling with samples is simply more sophisticated. It is no wonder that he has been chosen to participate in Red Bull Music Academy this year.

In one of older Kidkanevil's song you can hear an essential message: "This is not hip-hop, this is pop music." Deduce from that just what you want, at Lunchmeat festival he is performing as DJ and as mixtapes suggest, it is going to be wild (Jimi Hendrix plus Aphex Twin).
